Project Atlantic Film Course

Film Course Overview

Project Atlantic Video Training Series Weekly Assignment Breakdown

This set of lessons is designed to assist any teacher in integrating Project Atlantic into their normal curriculum.  It includes tutorials and a breakdown of how to apply the lessons in your class using your curriculum.  Finally, a series of Benchmark assignments is provided to get students through the production of their Final Product, a 5-7 minute* film on an energy or environmental topic or their choice.

* Recommended time.  Films can be of greater length, but usually suffer from a >10 minute length.

WeVideo Component

Teachers should familiarize themselves with the WeVideo platform, as it is a very Chromebook-friendly, online video production platform that allows students to collaborate on the same piece and work from anywhere with an internet connection.  If some students have access to higher-quality video editing technology, then that is fine.  Many will prefer what they are familiar with if they have used Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro before, but most students find WeVideo a good starting point.

Vermont teachers should investigate the agreement between the State of Vermont and WeVideo to allow the purchase of full upgrade licences from WeVideo for $2.50 per seat rather than the normal $6.63.  The page with information for Purchase Orders of WeVideo seat licenses (30 seat minimum) is here.  This allows you to be the Admin of a WeVideo group that includes your students and you, and gives you editing and viewing privileges of all student Projects in real time.
