Project Atlantic Film Course

Week 1-9 Overview

Weeks 1-9; Introduction to Film Editing and WeVideo

The course starts at the beginning of the year to get simple tasks out of the way, like signing into WeVideo and finding their way around a Project Page and finding each other on Shared Pages.  It is barely a presence at first.  The tasks don’t take up much class time at all for the first few weeks of school, maybe an hour at most.

The next set of lessons support basic visual storytelling and video editing.  There are two assignments the first takes two weeks and the second takes four.  Each of the assignments has a rough draft and a final submission.  These assignments are not intrusive because you integrate them into your curriculum.   They may add an hour per week during the first assignment, then two or three hours per week at the end of second assignment.  This is time well-spent because lessons about the process and the WeVideo platform are invaluable, as they will not need to be learned in the last three weeks of the Project. Students will also have had an important experience of creating and revising a short film, which is going to help in the second, more demanding Project Atlantic portion of the course.
