Project Atlantic Film Course

Week 17-18 Revise, Edit Expand

Week 17-18

This is the final push.  Many students will be well on their way and others will be in the woods with no clear path.  Your job is much like the second draft of the Week 6-9 assignment.  First is a class-wide screening of each film and a brief and kind discussion of the films in broad strokes, as well as any specifics that come up in the discussion.  Then, you will view each team’s film privately with them, noting all ‘action items,’ and strategizing for the best way to make the Final Draft the best that it can be.  You may even find that one section needs to go or be re-imagined, or maybe even that one theme is very strong and begs for expansion.

Anything is possible, but be careful to keep it realistic.  A “C” piece may have what it takes to be an “A,” but it may not, and it might benefit best from some tightening up.  Not all work is going to have that innate ‘feeling’ that a good film gives, and that is hard to teach.  You can, however, help them remove inaccuracies and flow problems that will improve the viewer’s perception of their work no matter how accomplished their intellectual message is.

Week 17-18 Assignments are:

  • Critique

  • Troubleshoot

  • Incorporate Feedback
